Our Student Interns & Ambassadors Program

The COW-Afri Student Interns & Ambassadors program provides budding professionals with hands-on experience in One Health approaches. Our interns work alongside experts in animal health, human wellness, and environmental conservation, gaining invaluable field experience and research skills.

These future leaders represent COW-Afri on their campuses and in their communities, helping to spread awareness about the intricate connections between human health, animal welfare, and environmental sustainability.

Student Intern & Ambassador, Ghana

Animal Health & Production College, Pong-Tamale

Famous is a Veterinary Laboratory Technologist and COW-Afri Student Intern & Ambassador. His internship has exposed him to diverse areas of research and provided a platform to develop professional networks through conferences and webinars.

From October 2024 to December 2024, he was enrolled as a research assistant on the project "Welfare Concerns and Seroprevalence of Rabies Among Hunting Dogs in the Northern Region of Ghana". His responsibilities included blood sampling, community engagement, entry protocols, and treating sick dogs primarily used for hunting.

Through this experience, Famous acquired new skills in proper restraint of dogs and correct venipuncture techniques, enhancing his professional capabilities.

Student Intern & Ambassador, Ghana

A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) candidate from the School of Veterinary Medicine at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, Ghana, with a great interest in research in virology. As a keen advocate for human and child rights, I have developed professional networks with individuals through seminars, conferences, and webinars on the subject matter. At COW-Africa, I have been engaged in clinical and field practices, community outreaches, and participating in anti-rabies campaigns; educating people and undertaking free anti-rabies vaccinations for dogs and cats, aimed at eliminating rabies by 2030.
